Speed up rendering by transforming takes into frames
-
Hi,
One solution we offer our customers requires several thousand takes for each set of renders. Each take only needs 30 seconds for rendering, but the preparation phase, which involves processing geometry with Redshift, is much longer. On average, we use one camera for every 500 takes, and the only changes between takes are material swapping and toggling some geometry's visibility. I've developed a Python script that logs changes to takes and creates an animation frame for each, significantly speeding up the rendering process when rendering as an animation compared to individual takes. Is there a way to achieve this increased rendering speed with takes without converting them into animation frames? Do you have any other suggestions for enhancing render speed?Best regards,

Hello @Futurium,
thank you for reaching out to us and please excuse the delay.
I have moved your questions to the off-topic forum because it did not contain a concrete API question. While I understand that your question is somewhat between the seats, I would have to ask you to direct all end-user questions such as 'how to speed up take renderings' towards our end support via our Support Center. We simply do not have the expert knowledge of an experienced artist here at SDK to answer this.
When you have a concrete API question regarding your script, you are welcome to ask it here. Or you can also just post your script if we can spot something that is terribly inefficient. But when I understood you correctly, the problem is not your script, but the time takes for Cinema to apply a Take in one of your large scenes. We cannot help you much with this, because even when you apply the take switch via the API, the problem is here then the app, i.e., an end user question. You would have to ask the support team how you can optimize such scenes.
Cheers,
