      I want to try and write a simple exporter for heirarchy, materials and models.. Anyone recommend where to begin or example code?

        if you are aware of syntax of C++ and all, you can simply download the SDK Project files that include example codes for almost any kind of plugin. You will need to use the project with MSVC++ 6 or Codewarrior 8.
