      Hi all,

      might be a very quick and simple question, but could not find an answer anywhere so far:

      From the BaseFile class, which of the Read... commands work on text files?
      I know that ReadChar does work, and ReadString only works in binaries.
      What does ReadWord do? Does a ReadLong work from a text file?

      Thanks for help.

      Best regards,
      Juergen

        Use ReadChar for text files. ReadWord and ReadLong are for binary formats to read integers.

        cheers,

            Just out of curiosity:
            What is the difference between LONG, VLONG and WORD?

              WORD = 16bit integer
              LONG = 32bit integer
              VLONG = variable length integer (e.g. 64bit)

              cheers,
              Matthias
