      Hi,

how do you manage plugin licenses for c4d multi-licenses? I mean, if a user has e.g. a multi license for 10 clients, do you sell just one plugin license or do you charge 10 plugin licenses or do you have special conditions?

        I would say...

        1. The customer definitely HAS to purchase 10 licenses, since you have no possibility to control how many licenses the customer will use. Exception would be if you do some extra stuff to control the usage of your plugin, like locking your plugin licenses on a machine's MAC address, or checking over the network for other running copies or your plugin.

Anyway, both these methods can be cheated. In my BIOS, I can enter whatever MAC address I want for the onboard Ethernet controller. And checking for other copies of the plugin over LAN can also be blocked with a simple software firewall.

Both methods would just mean a lot of work for you and pissing off the customer. The Bottom line is: If the customers has a multilicense for 10 machines, he should purchase 10 plugin licenses, or switch to his local C4D license (if available) and purchase your plugin for this specific license.

        2. Since purchasing 10 licenses would maybe scare many potential customers, I would offer a special discount. Percentage of discount may depend from the number of licenses purchased.
I didn't yet read anything about how Maxon handles multilicense purchases. If a company buys 10 licenses as a multilic, will they get any discount?

Just some thoughs about it... 😉

        Cheers from Izmir,
        Jack

You can simply make one license for the multi-license serial number (201...). It cannot be used by any other license server as this is the overriding serial number returned for any user in the multi-license system. If they have 10 licenses, you can charge them a 'bulk' license fee somehow worked out as a percentage of the number (say, 90% for 10, 75% for 100, etc. as you see fit).

Multi-licenses and the license server for R11 are discussed in the SDK Help forum.

Of course, if you mean a customer that has several independent C4D licenses, you'll need to charge on the basis of number and create a separate serial for each (I've done this for previous C4D versions in the past).

I run a pretty steep discount ("get three, pay two" then even better for
higher number of users) and it works fine.
