      Hi,

Does a 9.0 user will get a complete new (base) serial number from maxon when he will upgrade to 9.6? I received a request from one of my costumers for a new plugin serial number. Both, his former c4d serial and his current c4d serial starts with 10901. As far as I know, should the plugin serial be valid for all R9 versions, since it bases on the R9 base serial number.(?)

Afaik it's the core R9 number that is used. The R9.6 number is a "module"
I deliver my plugs using the core number only to customers running R9 to R9.6. If someone sends another 1090 number they will need to get a new license for the plugin as well.

        Cheers
        Lennart

The new module number came with the upgrade from 9 to 9.5. The update from 9.5 to 9.6 is free, so no new serial.

Thanks. My customer told me, that he uses an educational version and will always get a new core number when he upgrades. If this is true, it's very time expensive for a student to update all his plugins to new licences!

Your customer is correct that the education version cannot be upgraded, so there will be a new number for each new version.
