Hi there,I found a problem with "sound" in C4D. Loading a .wav file into C4D works fine and plays back but for some reason (can't reproduce the error since you never know if it will work or not) the sound near the end of playback get's crunchy. You will hear weird noises within the soundfile. I tested this with the tools given by C4D (Added a soundfile in the timeline) and also tested it with "Response" (our plugin). So this is not a "Response" issue but more a C4D issue. I would say some of you should test this. Load a soundfile into C4D and see if you get crunchy noises near the end. I have several people report the same thing but I can't figure out why it's doing this.

All I can add is that sound played (running Cinema) is crunched thruout.
I've tried aif and wav, mono and stereo, 44.1 and 48kHz. QT 7.01 and 7.04. No difference.
Sometimes QT stops to work after a while and a reboot of the computer is needed.
It sounds as if Cinema does its own playback. The sound is heavily truncated and slippes in time, having sync issues.
I think sound must be the very lowest priority in Cinema, its a pitty and would gain a lot by being updated somehow.Running G5 Quads Tiger.

Thanks for your input Lennart. Anybody else here who tested it? I think this is somewhat important to look into.

I've had this problem not yet because I do not use sounds in C4D.
But a few days ago I saw in an german forum (Macnews.de, Jan. 25.) similar problems with playing sound on a Mac. It seems to be a Mac-specific soundproblem, but often only appears when playing more than one file and in different programs.
Perhaps the link to the discussion about this issue at apple.com might help you:

Hi there Tobi and thanks. I have to disagree though as this is not a Mac issue only. I have tested it with several people on several machines (Windows PC and Macintosh) and the crunchy sound appears on both systems and only in C4D.

This sounds more like a technical problem, it might be better to talk to technical support and see if you can find the cause.

As I said earlier this has nothing to do with Windows based machines or Macintosh machines. The problem occurs on both systems and within CINEMA 4D only so I really doubt that this is a technical problem. If I get a crunchy sound in C4D only and not in other programs then it surely sounds like there is something wrong with C4D and sound.
I know several users who report the exact same thing so once again this is NOT about hardware or any OS. It seems to be a C4D issue.

All the more reason to talk to technical support. This sounds (no pun) like it could be a bug or driver compatibility issue (obviously only between C4D and the sound drivers). What would be best is to collect information from users of both systems having the same problem so that tech support is able to find a correlation which will lead to the reason and a solution.
