Are there any plugins for creating hair on an object around? If you do not need one, How would you do it? I am new to the whole 3D world.

        Hi,

for cinema4D there is currently only one real Hair plugin available, Shave and a Haircut. More information on the Developer website at www.joealter.com

Other techniques are using Alpha maps on polygon hair. Use google to seek for tutorials concerning this. The procedure is the same for almost all major 3D applications, so you can port MAYA or XSI tutorials (of course in this special case only) to Cinema 4D easily.

On a side note, when you are new to 3D, you shouldn´t be concerned about hair generation in the first place. You should rather first learn to model and texture before getting into higher level stuff.

        Just as an advice.

Thank you so much. I appreciate it. I just learned how to use the booble! that was really cool. I'm going to try to learn the surface lofting next and how to add smoothness to a polygon mesh. that has not been easy to learn. the tutorials are not that good that come with the studio.
Also I am finding that in generating a final render, it takes a real long time "calculating Preview". Is this normal?
Also I have a problem if I press "Undock" on a window. I can not redock it any more! then I am stuck with a window to move around.
Is there a way to re-assign keys in this environment?
          thank you for your help

            Hi again,

ähm, this is not the correct forum for questions like this. You will get faster and more specified answers concerning working with Cinema 4D in the user forums. For english-speaking people you will find the most frequented cinema 4d forums here:

            www.cgtalk.com
            www.renderosity.com
            www.postforum.com

as the forums here on Plugincafe are focusing on plugin development.

            Good luck!

I have used one that is free, trying to remember the name now...

hair department, looks good and can have dynamic effects and uses splines, so it is efficient.

                Go on google.
