Howdy,Will the first 11 digits of the R9 serial number be set up just like in R8? I have my plugin's serial number check routine set up to ignore the R8 temporary digit and I'm wondering if this routine will still work for R9.

Give us the info on what defines mac / pc - educational, and what is considered a site license. This helps developers. You want developers, you are getting very tired, developers are good...

And speed up the reply notification. I didn't get the reply email notification until 4 hours later after I read the reply.

Howdy,
OK, I've just received two requests for updated numbers. One had a permanent number and the other had a temporary number. So, it looks like the R9 temporary digit is set up the same way as R8.

The reason that the serial number scheme isn't disclosed is that it's still changing between versions. The 5th digit is '1' for PC and '2' for Mac. There's no way to tell a "site license" from the serial.

Yes, you can. In a posting from March Mikael wrote to me to that question:
"At the moment, if the 6th position of the serial number is a '1' then it's an educational version."
Might have changed in R9... I completely agree that it would make life much easier if the S/N scheme would be properly documented.
It also would reduce the hassle of an upgrade for both users and developers, if a license number wouldn't change with each and every update. With each major update you have to create a new key anyway...
