C4D .xml file format details

I'm a mac game developer that uses and loves C4D. I've had difficulties finding any other modeling program that does it's name justice. Now comes the part where I'm trying to rely on it for a game I'm doing, and the troubles arise. For my latest title I'm adding bone-based animation, and I've been spending the past months looking for a capable format to suit my needs with little success. Currently my best option appears to be C4D .xml, but (again) sadly I cannot find any documentation on the file format. I have an .xml parser, and I can look at the format and understand how it's sorta structed, but no where near anything usable.
I'm hoping to find someone that will help me as deadlines are always over my head, and things aren't currently looking good at all for animation :/.
