      Howdy,

After getting the first 11 digits of the serial number with GeGetSerialInfo(), how do I use them? A topic search reveals that the 4th digit determines if the serial number is temporary, the 5th digit determines Mac or PC, and the 6th digit determines if it's an educational version. Are there any digits in the first 11 that are unique to the individual license that my plugin's serial number can be checked against?

      Adios,
      Cactus Dan

Yes. Not all details are public, but the simplest way is to just consider the whole 11 digits as uniquely defining the individual license.

Is there anyway in v11 to determine if a user serial or multi-license serial is educational?

If the 6th digit of the serial number is 5 it is a final educational serial. If it is 1 it is a temporary educational serial. Don't ask me why there is a difference though 🙂

Why is there a difference? Just kidding- couldn't resist. Thank you kindly for the information.

Maybe you can make the information known to developers through some developer-only email or other access? Knowing whether the serial number if temporary (always a p.i.t.a. when customers send those) or educational (some of us have educational offers and it is very difficult to verify without knowing what constitutes an educational version!) is very important.

For instance, I surmised that the 5 in the 6th position was education as it showed up in a few educational purchases of my plugin. But it was only supposition until now.

                  Thanks for the info, Matthias!

                    Hey CD,
You might also find this thread usefull, so you can be prepared to handle License Server - based serial numbers while you're at it.
