Xpresso node changes to undefined, Python workaround?

I am using Xpresso to set the clone count in a cloner that uses an object. Everytime I reopen the file, the Xpresso Count node for the cloner changes to undefined. Is there a Python workaround? Thanks.

Problem solved. The Volume Mesher is to blame. Putting it in a Connect object and using that as the clone object did the trick.
