THE POST BELOW IS MORE THAN 5 YEARS OLD. RELATED SUPPORT INFORMATION MIGHT BE OUTDATED OR DEPRECATED

I'm looking for advice from plugin developers with Mac experience.

I'm a diehard PC user but I'd like to buy a Mac on which I can compile the plugins I've written. Otherwise they're going to be restricted to PC users, which is silly.

Most of the development I do will be on the PC, I'm just looking to compile and test on the Mac. I've been looking at a basic MacBook for this purpose. Specs are an Intel core 2 duo, 2Gb RAM and 160Gb HD. I'm hoping this will be enough for the above purpose, but being a total Mac novice I thought I should ask advice before spending any money!

I'd be very grateful for any comments.

That should totally be enough for that purpose.

You could also get a Mac mini, its cheaper and more than sufficient for the purpose of testing and compiling. Well, depends on how complex your plugin is, i guess.

Many thanks. Good to hear that the Macbook spec is OK.

Yes, I did think about the mini but the price difference between a 2Gb version (which I think I'd want) and the Macbook isn't that large, and there would be the hassle of connecting the mini to my PC monitor etc. whenever I wanted to use it. So I think I'll go for the Macbook.
