      Hi,

one of my customers reports a problem: My plug-in is not loading at all on his machine. This is the first time, I get a report like that. All other customers and testers got it working without no problem.

If there's a valid license found, a message it printed in the console. If there's no valid license found, another message is printed. Either way, SOMETHING should appear in the console when the plug-in is loaded. But nothing. The plug-in file seems to be ignored by the customer's CINEMA.

My plug-in was tested on Win32, Win64, MAC OS-X, using R10.1 and R10.5. Everything always worked fine. The customer has already tried to remove all his other plug-ins (in case somebody uses the same plug-in ID as I do), but still nothing happened.

Anybody here who had a similar problem? I can not debug this error here, because everything works without problems here, of course.

      Greetings,
      Jack

I have this problem once in a month. Every time it was the customers fault. 🙂

        1. Did he correctly extract the folder into the c4d plugins folder?
        2. Does he use a lower c4d version than the compiled plugin? (you can write it in capital letters on the front page of your website, but there will still be customers who didn´t know they needed a higher version... 😉

Otherwise I see no reason why it should not appear (beside the facts you mentioned in your initial post).

          Howdy,

I've seen a couple on the Mac that were due to screwed up disk permissions. Once the user repaired disk permissions, all was well.

On the Mac, disk permissions and issues with serial number entry are the two biggest reasons for plugins not being registered. For some reason, the serial number in emails doesn't always get copy-pasted as expected. In those cases, I tell users to copy-paste into TexEdit and then do the same from there to the registration box - to good results.

Disk permissions sounds reasonable. How can one change these permissions on a MAC (just in case the customer doesn't know how to do it), and what should they be set to?

              Cheers,

Hehe, us long time Mac users have learned to deal with a lot of those Mac specific issues. But, then when we get on a PC, we're lost. :o(
