Yes, I think so too:
I've searched the whole web for another possibility, but no way. Let's wait for release 10 and hope Maxon can build anything like that. It would make the work easier and the lights would look more realistic. Thanks for your help

What kinda information does this file format actually hold? Which c4d light parameters are affected? What kind of file format is that?
If you have a link I could have a look at it and if you need such a plugin, maybe we could arrange sth (of course not free of charge).

It is not so urgent in the way to develop a plugin just for me...
But thanks a lot.If you go on www.erco.de you'll find the section download and there you'll find the EULUMDAT- and IES-files.
The file format is .ldt (EULUMDAT). It discribes several parameters which are not all included in the light parameters of cinema 4D, as there are e.g. intesity (Watt), lightning-angel and the combination of them, relativly to the distance.
For exact information you've got to read the discription at Erco for example, my English is not so well to explain these things in correct terms. Sorry...Regards

Hi eneryone!!! i am architect and i could use the ies files, because some times it is very importand to know the exact amount that you get from the light in a 3d scenery (which by the way will become a true space). will people bump into each other (after sunset) if i use 4 pair of lights or they will go blind from the high intencity???
a plugin that, can ensure e.g 100% brightness stands for a lamp of 100Watts in the real world (50% -> 50Watts and so on), can tell the difference between spolights with QR, or CDMR or AR70, AR111, lamps, it woyld be a great advantage for architects. -

Hi everyone!
I'm a lighting designer. It's very important to use IES or Eulumndat photometric light in any 3D software.
I invite to take vision to you of the software Lightscape of Discreet (only PC sigh) o Form Z (PC and Mac, but very slow) in order understanding what I mean. I refer in particular to the
visualization to colors in lux. All the software use Radiosity like C4D. But nothing about IES / eulumndat and calculation about amount of light. There is anyone in C4D Staff that can help us and support our request? -

since there is no such think in c4d, i decided to give it a try and make my own plugin.
i could really use some infomation about lighting and how it interacts with material of different nature and colour.
ecorelli, since you are a lighting designer, maybe you could provide some data to start with.
tnx in advance. -

hey rodrigomurcia,
i'm quite busy right now, so things didn't go as fast as i expected.
i'va managed to render scenes, both exterior and interior, with the same render settings. what i need now is to set the lights as true as possible.
i'm sure that ecorelli's information will be trully usefull.
maybe i'll post some images of what i've done so far.
cheers,
george -
