btw. here is the screenshot showing the output (I have blackened the license key for the sake of user's privacy) and the red arrow points at the mysterious | character. This is really just the printing of the si.nr multilicense content. How strange is that? Could this indeed be there?

okay, restarting did not help. Also the line character is a cursor ^^
Again Matthias, the license server is on a 32-Bit WinXP pc system and the mac is running 64-Bit iMacs (Lion and Snow Leo). Could this introduce ANY issues?
Also all clients are on at least 13.058 and the LS is on 13.012.

Okay, now also got the confirmation that unplugging the client from the LS management does register fine. the serial works in standalone mode. Now I am completely baffled. What the heck could the problem be?
I will go deeper into the serial check and see if something goes wrong there (which must be the case as the multilicense serial is correctly passed, so the only thing that remains is that there is a inconsistency in my code somewhere...) -

Okay, I can answer this myself, as one of my other customers has a similar setup and it works for him. So it cannot be that.
Also all clients are on at least 13.058 and the LS is on 13.012.
The customer just told me that the LS has no update so I can assume that all my other R13 LS clients are also running 13.012, so this also cannot be it. Argh, what am I missing? I need vacation.

Sorry I have no idea what could be the cause. Btw. 13.012 is the latest version of the LS.
cheers,

thx Matthias for confirming. Yeah, as I wrote I can only conclude now that I am missing something somewhere on my side. It must be something stupid (although I just went thru the serial check code..which is fine..I now triple checked...this is not it), I miss the forest for the trees somehow.
Anyway, thanks so far both of you. Once I have it sorted I'll report back.

...still lurking, but running low on suggestions...
Do you know if your plugin is failing to validate it? Or is the (successful) validation just not being honored by the LS?
What version are you building your plugin with? Have you tried sending him an R12 build (most R12 plugins will work fine with R13).
If R13.058, have you tried going back to R13.012?

yeah, tried both already the R12 and an exclusive R13 built. It must be my plugin that is failing somehow but the serial check is correct (it would be nice if I could remotely debug on his machine ^^). I'll now build a line-by-line print out. That should show me exactly WHAT is failing.

okay, shame on me and I probably indeed need a vacation. In the end it was not the plugin, it was not the license server, not the computers or C4D. It was human failure because it was me.
I forgot to clip 2 digits in the LS key and as I do this manually I didn't notice. Even worse, I compared the key to the keys of my other LS customers and I absolutely did not notice the difference! Unbeeeelievable...
this is the point where I would like to jump out of the window. sigh...I will now sit down and automate this step. Sorry for all the hassle...you now have 5 seconds to giggle -
