Changing polygon Geometry?

Hi,
What is envolved with creating additional polygons to a polygon object?
For example, lets say I wanted to knife a face of a cube(without sendmodelingcommand). What would I need to do?
I assume it would be something like:- Resize object with ResizeObject method
- Get the Object Vertices and Polygons
- Move the new vertices into the correct locations
- Change polygons vertex indices
- Create new polygon to fill any gaps
Thats I would think I would need to do, but that seems like alot of hard work

Sounds about right. Some hard work, but on the other hand you only have to write it once, then the computer will do i for you...
