When Xpresso creates the menu list for users to add ports to a node I had assumed that parameters tied to a parent id would be grouped with the parent parameter.
If there was the following in the attribute manager:
widget enable
value
variationI would assume it would show up as the following in the Xpresso node port popup menu:
widget menu
widget enable
value
variationinstead I get six variations all called variation. All of the grouped parameters show up listed in alphabetical order in the menu. I can and will name them appropriately as widget variation. I would like to make parameters grouped in the attribute manager res to be grouped in the node port popup menu. how would I go about making this work?

Sorry for keeping you waiting for so long. These menu elements are grouped only by the main AM groups and by subdescription values (for example P.X, P.Y etc.). So it isn't possible to do exactly what you want.
What you could do is to use the DESC_SHORT_NAME for the AM and DESC_NAME for the menu. In a string resource this is written as a second string, for example 'IK_USE_ROT_H "Enable Limit Heading" "H";'.
So you would write 'WIDGET_VARIATION "Widget Variation" "Variation";'.
