Hi,at this year's FMX, Pixar presented a nice idea to drastically reduce hair-rendertime in Ratatoullie.
They simply reduced the haircount every time the mice were further away from the camera. To compensate the loss of hair they just made it thicker. The difference was barely visible, but the rendertime significantly shorter. Now I want to try the same thing in Xpresso, but the problem is, that as soon as I reduce the haircount, the remaining hair is somehow randomly redistibuted. In some way that makes totally sense, but it makes a smooth transition impossible. For still-images it works nice though.
Does anybody know, whether its possible to control the way Cinema distributes the hair over the surface, so when I reduce the haircount, the remaining hair stays in its place?

Hi,
afaik the distribution of the hairs between the guides is dependant on the hair "map". I assume if you set it to "unroot" it won´t change distribution any longer. However, this is a question, you´d rather ask in a usual Cinema 4D forum as it´s not really related to programming or Xpresso.
Hope that helps!
