GvPort : GetVisible seems to always return TRUE. Does it not work or is it evaluating on something other than then visibility of the port in the Xpresso node?

GetVisible does work fine for me. The visibility is the "hidden" state of the port. This does not mean if the port is created (and therefore visible) and shown.
Here is an example:
inport = vinport->GetPort();
if(inport->GetVisible()) inport->SetVisible(FALSE); //Hides the port
GePrint(LongToString(inport->GetVisible())); //GetVisible does now return 0

Thank you.
Is there a way to tell if the port has been created?

Well, the only way I know of (or rather that´s how I am doing it for my nodes) is to check if there is a sub id for the port because this is only assigned when the port is created.
if(!inport->GetSubID()) GePrint("Port not created");
