Dear Forumim looking for a plugin, which makes it possible to use Cinema4D on autostereoscopic displays. These LC-displays produce pictures out of 8 or 9 melted different layers (in each layer an own perspective, like in the welleknown red-green glasses but with 8 instead of 2 different points of view).
Björn Marl (Maxon, Germany) told me, that maybe the possibilities of the current SDK are not wide enough for a third developer to write a plugin which automatically sets the 8 cameras with a fixed same (and congruent) target distance. If someone of you could check the possibilities and tell me is it possible or not i would be very happy.
Or if you could make suggestions, how the cinema-sdk should be opened by the Maxonians to support this, that would be helpful too.
The company, which produces the displays is www.4d-vision.de. Sorry, that i can't set here a link to the 4dv-display-sdk, but to whom there are interested in, i send it as possible fast.
And finally: If there is someone who would like to produce the plugin, i´m waiting for your email
Mr Alexander Schmidt, Head of Software Deapartment at 4D-Vision promised support on any possible field.
with best regards
Harald

Hi Harald,
we have one of the 4D Vision (now X3D) displays at our university. It's quite easy to handle from a programmer's view. Offline-rendering for it shouldn't pose a problem. Real-time support for it could quite easily be added to my hardware renderer C4Dfx. While at the moment I'm occupied with other things, I do have this topic on my list, including adding support for stereo glasses and for the Essential Realities P5 data glove at the same time. To speed things up, I'm very much interested in co-operation. Maybe some computer science students reading this are interested in nice ideas (and a supervisor for semester projects or bachelor reports or diploma or master theses?
