      Is there anything like the "Merge..." function in the File Menu or the Load Object... function available in the C API or Coffee? I want to load several objects from other files into my document.

        You can use LoadDocument() to open another document. Iit's just a matter of cloning the objects and inserting them into the scene. (Be sure to use an AliasTrans, and don't forget to copy the materials.)
