General Plugin Functionality Overview

Typical classic API plugins are created by implementing a custom class derived from a base plugin class. This custom implementation must be registered to inform Cinema 4D about it.

• Every classic plugin must register PluginStart(), PluginMessage() and PluginEnd(). See Plugin Functions Manual.
• Details on implementing and registering a plugin class are described on General Plugin Information Manual.
• Plugin classes are often based on NodeData, so many plugins can implement NodeData based functions. See NodeData Overview
• Cinema 4D communicates with plugins using various message systems. For an overview see Messages Overview
• Callbacks can be replaced with Delegates. See Delegate Manual (Classic).
